Never before have I so desperately wanted to get out of this country. Usually though, getting away is an escape from too much work or a long winter. But, now, it’s because I need a break from all the hate in the air. It’s suffocating me, and though I know I’m not alone, that does little to alleviate the internal stress it’s causing.
I imagine going somewhere where I can enjoy an enclave of hate-free space because the anger spewing between our president, elected officials, media and citizens is creating a pressure cooker of emotional dissonance that has consequences beyond the political landscape. I mean, how much more can people take?
